You have received your child's school records from the school, organized them, and analyzed them to see what they reveal about the progress your child is making. After researching what an IEP should look like, what the tests scores and evaluations in the records reveal, you will want to see what the school is planning to propose for your child's educational plan. You can request a copy of the proposed draft of the IEP. Remember, it cannot go into effect until you and the school staff sign it. Things can be added, taken out and changed. So, here is a letter you can write at least a week before the IEP meeting takes place. This will give you plenty of time to plan and review everything.
You will also need to inform the school that you will be taping all IEP meetings.

This draft that the school has produced will give you a very good idea of what they have planned. You will be able to go over this to see if their goals for your child is appropriate or not. You can then make your own recommendations if you find that you want some of your own goals for your child addressed.
